Fireball Eggnog

Nothing captures the festive spirit quite like a Fireball Eggnog. Last Friday evening, after a long day of city chaos and Alex's soccer practice, I decided we needed something quick and cozy to wind down. That’s when it hit me—this delightful concoction of cinnamon warmth and creamy eggnog. It's just what a Manhattan family needs when the weather outside is frightful!

  • Festive flavors: Combines the comforting taste of eggnog with a spicy cinnamon twist.
  • Kid-friendly approach: Non-alcoholic variations for family enjoyment.
  • City-proof ingredients: Use store-bought eggnog without sacrificing flavor.
  • Adaptable: Easily scaled for larger gatherings or intimate family nights.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup non-alcoholic premade eggnog, cold
  • 1½ ounces Fireball cinnamon-flavored whisky
  • Water (for rimming the glass)
  • 2 tablespoons cane (or raw) sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Prepare the glass rim: Place water in a shallow dish. In another dish, mix cane sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Dip the glass rim in water then into the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Set aside.
  3. Mix the drink: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, add the premade eggnog and Fireball whisky. Shake for 15-30 seconds until your eggnog is chilled to perfection.
  4. Pour and serve: Strain the cold mix into your prepared glass and garnish with extra cinnamon sugar on top.

Recipe tips & variations

  • Tip for a perfect rim: Ensure the glass is slightly damp, not dripping, when dipping into the cinnamon-sugar mix.
  • Family-friendly version: Swap Fireball for cinnamon syrup to enjoy as a non-alcoholic treat.
  • Bulk batches: Easily double or triple the ingredients for larger parties or family fun.
  • Can’t find Fireball? Substitute with your favorite cinnamon whiskey for similar warmth.

Storage & reheating

While Fireball Eggnog is best enjoyed fresh, you can store the base (sans rim and ice) in the fridge for up to two days. Shake well before serving again. Unfortunately, once rimmed, it doesn’t keep well, so it’s best to rim the glass just before serving.
