Cooking in the air fryer cuts down the cooking time and cleanup, making it perfect for busy weeknights. With just 5 minutes of prep, this dish offers a crispy exterior and juicy, tender meat inside. Not to mention, Alex always asks for these turkey legs, which are way more fun than plain old chicken.

Recipe tips & variations

For an even deeper flavor, marinate the turkey overnight. And if you’re in a pinch, you can skip marination altogether—the rub still works wonders. I discovered one day when I forgot to plan ahead that the air fryer didn’t compromise the tenderness at all. You can even try adding a dash of cayenne for a spicy kick, which is something that Donald appreciates every now and then.

Storage & reheating

These turkey legs are great for leftovers too. Simply store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. To reheat, pop them back into the air fryer for a few minutes to regain that crispy skin. It’s almost like enjoying them for the first time!

FAQs

How long should I cook turkey legs in the air fryer for perfect tenderness?

Typically, 45 minutes at 180C works perfectly to get that juicy inside with a crispy outside. Flipping halfway ensures even cooking.

Can I cook frozen turkey legs directly in the air fryer?

Yes, but you’ll need to add more time—around 60-65 minutes. It's crucial to check the internal temperature to ensure it's fully cooked.

What temperature should turkey legs reach to be fully cooked?

They should reach an internal temperature of 75C (165F) to ensure they’re safe to eat.

Should I marinate turkey legs before air frying them for better flavor?

Marinating is optional but recommended for deeper flavors. If you have extra time, let them sit in the marinade for a few hours or overnight.
