Why you’ll love this recipe

This Bourbon Pecan Peach Crisp is a delightful mix of sweet, juicy peaches and a crunchy topping, all brought together with a hint of bourbon for a little sophistication. It's a crowd pleaser that you can serve warm with ice cream for that classic peach crisp experience. Plus, the crisp topping is easy to prepare and adaptable, perfect for your cozy weekends or any time you need a comforting dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 and ½ pounds peaches
  • 2 and ½ Tablespoons bourbon
  • 2 Tablespoons orange juice
  • ½ teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup light brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ cup (113 grams) unsalted butter, cut into cubes, at room temperature
  • ¾ cup (75 grams) old-fashioned oats
  • ½ cup (57 grams) pecans, finely chopped
  • ¼ cup (50 grams) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (106 grams) light brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)
  • ⅔ cup (82 grams) all-purpose flour
  • ice cream, for serving, optional

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F).
  2. In a 9x13-inch baking dish or 10-inch to 12-inch cast iron skillet, combine the peaches, bourbon, orange juice, orange zest, vanilla, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Toss well to coat the peaches.
  3. Sprinkle in the cornstarch and toss well to combine. Set aside while you make the crisp topping.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the oats, pecans, both sugars, cinnamon, cardamom, and flour.
  5. Add in the cubed butter and, using two forks or a pastry blender, cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles a coarse meal.
  6. Sprinkle the topping evenly over peaches. Place the pan in the oven.
  7. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the peaches have begun to burst and release their juices and the topping is golden brown.
  8. Allow the juice to settle slightly (about 15 minutes), then serve warm.

Recipe tips & variations

Feel free to adjust the spices to your liking. Some days, when I have a bit of ginger lying around, I toss it into the mix for an extra kick. And if bourbon isn’t your thing, just skip it, and the crisp will still be flavorful!

Storage & reheating

Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days. To reheat, simply pop a portion in the microwave or let it warm in the oven for that perfect texture.

Can I make Bourbon Pecan Peach Crisp without using bourbon?

Absolutely, replace it with apple juice for a kid-friendly version.

How do I keep the peach filling from becoming too runny?

What type of peaches work best for this crisp recipe?

Yellow peaches are my go-to as they hold their shape well when baked.

Yes, make the topping in advance and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days.
