Air fryer smores this …

Some nights I just want dessert on the table in ten minutes flat, and that's exactly what these air fryer s'mores give me. No campfire, no propane torch, no standing over a stove watching marshmallows for burnt spots. Just gooey marshmallow, melted chocolate, and a crunchy graham cracker, made right in your air fryer.

I started making these last winter when Alex begged for s'mores in the middle of January, and building a fire pit in Manhattan in January is not exactly realistic. So I pulled out the air fryer, tossed in some marshmallows and chocolate, and honestly, it worked better than I expected. Now it's become our go to treat for movie nights, and Sarah asks for it almost every weekend.

If you love simple, no fuss desserts like this one, you'll probably also love my rice krispie treats, which come together just as fast and use ingredients you likely already have in your pantry.

This recipe is about as simple as it gets. Three ingredients, one air fryer basket, and less than ten minutes from start to finish. It's the kind of dessert you can pull together after dinner when the kids are asking for something sweet and you don't feel like turning on the oven.

Why You'll Like This Air Fryer S'mores Recipe

Here's what makes this one a keeper in our house.

  • It only takes about 10 minutes total, start to finish
  • Just three ingredients, and you probably have them on hand already
  • No campfire or fire pit needed, so it works any time of year
  • The marshmallows get perfectly golden and gooey without burning
  • Kids can help build their own stack, which makes it a fun activity too
  • Cleanup is easy since everything happens in one basket

Ingredients For Air Fryer S'mores

Here's everything you'll need. I like to double this when I know Alex and his friends are coming over, because trust me, one batch never seems to be enough.

  • Half a package of large marshmallows
  • 1 milk chocolate bar, broken into squares
  • 8 graham cracker squares

A quick note on substitutions. Dark chocolate works great here if that's more your family's style, and Donald actually prefers it that way. You can also swap in a peanut butter cup instead of the chocolate bar for a fun twist, similar to what I do in my peanut butter cookie recipe when I want that same sweet and salty combo.

Description

Gooey marshmallow, melted chocolate, and a crunchy graham cracker, made right in your air fryer in under 10 minutes, no campfire needed.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Half a package of large marshmallows
  • 1 milk chocolate bar, broken into squares
  • 8 graham cracker squares

Instructions

  1. Line your air fryer basket with a liner or a piece of parchment paper, then place the marshmallows in an even layer across the bottom.
  2. Set the air fryer to 350°F and cook the marshmallows for about 3 minutes, watching closely since every machine runs a little differently.
  3. Once the marshmallows look puffed and golden, scatter the chocolate squares over the top and air fry for another 2 minutes, or until the chocolate is melted and the marshmallows are a deep golden brown.
  4. Let everything cool for about 5 minutes, then spoon the marshmallow and chocolate mixture onto the graham crackers and press another cracker on top.

Notes

Watch the marshmallows closely during the last minute since air fryers vary. Try a thin layer of Nutella under the marshmallow for a fun twist, and don't overcrowd the basket so the marshmallows cook evenly instead of steaming.

How To Make Air Fryer S'mores

This part comes together so fast, you'll want to have your graham crackers ready to go before you even start.

Step One: Set Up Your Basket

Line your air fryer basket with a liner or a piece of parchment paper. This keeps things from sticking and makes cleanup a breeze. Place your marshmallows in an even layer across the bottom of the basket.

Step Two: Air Fry The Marshmallows

Set your air fryer to 350°F and cook the marshmallows for about 3 minutes. Keep an eye on them through the window if your air fryer has one, since every machine runs a little differently.

Step Three: Add The Chocolate

Once the marshmallows look puffed and golden, scatter your chocolate squares right over the top. Air fry for another 2 minutes, or until the chocolate looks melted and the marshmallows have turned a deep golden brown.

Step Four: Build Your S'mores

Let everything cool for about 5 minutes. This step matters more than people think, because straight out of the air fryer, that marshmallow is molten lava. Once it's cooled slightly, spoon the marshmallow and chocolate mixture onto your graham crackers and press another cracker on top.

Storage And Reheating

Honestly, these are best eaten right away while everything is still warm and gooey. But if you do have leftovers, here's what I do.

Store any extra marshmallow and chocolate mixture in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Keep your graham crackers separate so they stay crisp and don't turn soft.

To reheat, pop the marshmallow mixture back in the air fryer at 300°F for about a minute, just until it softens up again. I don't recommend microwaving it, since marshmallow can turn rubbery that way.

Tips And Variations For Air Fryer S'mores

A few things I've picked up after making this more times than I can count.

  • Watch your marshmallows closely during the last minute. Air fryers vary a lot, and mine runs hot, so yours might need slightly less time.
  • Have you tried adding a thin layer of Nutella under the marshmallow? It's a favorite in our house, and Sarah requests it constantly.
  • Cut your graham crackers in half for smaller, kid sized portions if you're serving a crowd.
  • Try swapping regular marshmallows for mini ones if that's what you have. Just shorten the first air fry time by about a minute.
  • One thing to avoid: don't overcrowd the basket. Give the marshmallows a little room so they cook evenly instead of steaming each other.

If you're a fan of no bake treats like this, my no bake cookie recipe has that same quick and easy feel, perfect for those nights when you want something sweet without much effort.

Air Fryer S'mores FAQs

Can you make s'mores in an air fryer?

Yes, and honestly it might be my favorite way to make them now. The air fryer toasts the marshmallow evenly and melts the chocolate at the same time, so you get that classic s'mores taste without any open flame at all.

What temperature should I use for air fryer s'mores?

I set mine to 350°F for the marshmallows and keep that same temperature when I add the chocolate. Every air fryer runs a little different though, so check yours a minute early the first time you try this.

How do you keep marshmallows from flying around in an air fryer?

This happened to me the first time I tried it, and it was a mess. Now I make sure my marshmallows are packed close together in a single layer, and I avoid using an air fryer with a really strong fan setting. Sticking them close together also helps them hold their shape as they puff up.

Can I use parchment paper when making air fryer s'mores?

Yes, parchment paper works well here and makes cleanup so much easier. Just make sure it's cut to fit your basket and that it's weighed down by the marshmallows themselves, so it doesn't blow around during cooking.

Final Thoughts On This Air Fryer S'mores Recipe

This recipe has honestly become one of our house staples, right up there with the treats I grew up making with my own mom in her tiny kitchen. It's simple, it's fast, and it gives you that same warm, gooey bite you'd get from a real campfire, minus the smoke smell in your hair afterward.

Give this air fryer s'mores recipe a try the next time your family wants something sweet without a lot of effort. I'd love to know how it turns out for you, and if your kids get creative with their own mix ins the way mine always do.
